Green Party of PEI Announces Matt MacFarlane as Nominee for District 19 Borden-Kinkora By-Election

Augustine Cove, PE - The Green Party of PEI is proud to announce Matt MacFarlane as its nominee for the upcoming District 19 by-election. A lifelong resident of the South Shore area, MacFarlane brings extensive experience and an unwavering commitment to advocating for his community. MacFarlane was officially nominated at a packed gathering at the Crapaud Community Hall on Friday night.

MacFarlane's dedication to serving his community spans years of impactful advocacy. His roles as Co-Chair for the South Shore Health and Wellness Centre and President of the Atlantic branch of the Kidney Foundation highlight his tireless efforts in championing causes important to his community. His work secured improved access to healthcare in the district and successfully advocated for the establishment of a much-needed provincial renal clinic.

Reflecting on his commitment to the district, MacFarlane said, "As a longtime resident of District 19, I have always fought for the best for my community. As Co-Chair of the South Shore Health and Wellness Centre, I fought for improved access to healthcare right here in our community and I know we could accomplish much more with a strong voice in the legislature."

Addressing the pressing concerns echoed by residents, MacFarlane said, "Since the spring election this past April, I've heard from many people who are worried about the direction this government is taking our province. Residents of District 19 are looking for a representative in the legislature who is going to make sure their issues and concerns are placed front and centre - things like healthcare, housing, the cost of living and the challenges experienced by farmers and small business owners. I am ready to be that voice for Borden-Kinkora at this important time."

In addition to maintaining a general law practice for twenty years with clients throughout Prince Edward Island, MacFarlane is highly involved in various community organizations that encompass health, environmental, and business sectors and has served on the executive of local, regional, and national boards of directors. MacFarlane was born and raised in Desable and currently lives in Augustine Cove with his wife Johanna.
