Green Party of PEI Calls for Nominations for District 10 By-election

Charlottetown - Following the September 3rd resignation of District 10 Charlottetown-Winsloe MLA Robert Mitchell, triggering the requirement for a by-election within 6 months, the Green Party of PEI has officially opened nominations in District 10.

The Party has also put out a call to its members to submit recommendations of people they feel would make for good Green Party candidates in District 10.

“We are very hopeful of attracting a number of strong contenders for the Green Party candidacy in the upcoming District 10 by-election,” said interim Party President Susan Hartley. “Preparations have already begun for this by-election whenever it is called, and our eventual candidate will find themself strongly supported by an enthusiastic and experienced team.”

As District 10 does not currently have a Green Party Electoral District Association, members from across the province will be eligible to participate in the nomination vote on a date to be announced.

“I am looking forward to campaigning alongside our candidate in the District 10 by-election,” said Green Party leader Peter Bevan-Baker. “The people of Charlottetown-Winsloe will be very well-served by a hard-working Green MLA, and my colleagues and I are excited at the prospect of welcoming someone with new skills and perspectives to our team.”
