Rural Roundtable (online)

Please join us for our very first Rural Roundtable on January 12, 2022! Due to the new public health restrictions, this first Roundtable will take place online via Zoom; however as soon as circumstances permit we also hope to host in-person Rural Roundtable conversations in communities from tip to tip.

What is the Rural Roundtable?

Rural Roundtables are designed to start conversations with and among Islanders about the future of rural Prince Edward Island.

We're looking to the knowledge, experience and imagination of rural Islanders to help create a vision of prosperity, resilience and vitality in rural Prince Edward Island. What we talk about, and what you tell us, during the Roundtables will help shape Green Party of PEI policies and our next platform, and will help inform the work of the Green Official Opposition Caucus.

What will we talk about?

The conversations we have at the Roundtables will be driven by you, the participants. Prior to each event, we will poll participants on the topics they wish to discuss and organize themed discussion tables (real or virtual) to explore issues and ideas within those topic areas.

Anything that affects Rural PEI is on the table, including but not limited to:

  • Rural economic development and diversification
  • Key rural industries: Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, and Tourism
  • Rural health care
  • Rural schools
  • Rural living for all ages
  • Rural environmental safety and sustainability
  • Rural transportation
  • Rural local government
  • Rural land use
  • Rural housing
  • Supporting vulnerable populations in rural communities

Who can participate in these discussions?

Everyone who lives in or has a strong relationship to rural PEI is welcome - you do not need to be a Green Party member or even supporter to participate. We want to hear from you regardless of your political leanings and get as many perspectives in the room as possible.

Please help us get the word out! There are only so many people we can reach directly to advertise these Rural Roundtables, so we greatly appreciate it if you could pass this invitation along to others who you think should be part of this conversation. Thank you!

To register, enter your information and click "Register" below. You will then be taken to a Zoom registration page to complete your registration and obtain the participation link for January 12th.
