Cornwall, PE - Mental health advocate and program developer Tayte Willows is the Green Party of PEI candidate in District 16, Cornwall-Meadowbank in the 2023 provincial election.

Willows has worked in both the non-profit and public service sectors while pursuing two Bachelor degrees and a Masters of Applied Health Science. Her work and her studies have allowed her to pursue her commitment to strong, person-centred policy development, program evaluation, community engagement and intercultural communication. During her employment with the Canadian Mental Health Association, Willows developed innovative new programming and initiated important organizational changes. Her work in the public sector has given her the opportunity to work collaboratively with community and government partners, locally and across the country.

“In all of my work - paid or volunteer - I have strived to ensure that decisions, programs, and services work for individuals, families, and communities. I look forward to the opportunity to tackle complex challenges with the Green caucus on behalf of people in District 16. With the right people engaged in a thoughtful process, anything is possible,” says Willows.

The parent of two young children, Willows is a volunteer with the Military Family Resource Centre, the Canadian Mental Health Association, and her church.

“I am running for office because I love my community and believe that the values, experiences, and perspectives I bring are uniquely suited to help drive the innovation that is needed to improve the lives of Islanders,” says Willows. “I present Cornwall-Meadowbank with a viable alternative, offering a different approach to politics and political engagement. The work of the Green Opposition Caucus has demonstrated to me that the Green Party is true to its stated values and more about substance than buzz words.”

Tayte loves PEI so much that she convinced her now-husband to move here. They make their home in Cornwall and have two toddlers and a beagle named Archie.
