District 19 Borden-Kinkora Candidate Matt MacFarlane Kicks-Off By-Election with a Focus on Healthcare, Affordability and Housing

Crapaud, PE - With yesterday’s by-election writ drop, Matt MacFarlane, Green candidate for District 19 Borden-Kinkora, officially kicked off his campaign with a focus on the issues impacting his community - including access to healthcare, making life more affordable, housing affordability and support for farmers and fishers.
“Going door to door, I am hearing real concern from people about the lack of action from this government on the issues facing Islanders. They are telling me things need to change,” said MacFarlane. “People are worried about whether they will be able to get healthcare when they need it, they are worried about the rising cost of necessities like groceries and their electricity bill, they are worried about whether they will be able to find housing they can afford, they are worried about the future of our land and shorelines.”
As a longtime resident of District 19 who was born and raised on the South Shore, MacFarlane is dedicated to serving his community and has a proven track record of tackling local issues head-on. As Co-Chair for the South Shore Health and Wellness Centre, MacFarlane was instrumental in securing primary healthcare access, including a family doctor, for the South Shore. As Secretary to the Board of Central Development Corporation, MacFarlane worked to support small businesses and entrepreneurs in accessing funding and grants to grow their businesses.
“I have always fought for my community and, if elected as the MLA for Borden Kinkora, I will continue to bring positive change to Borden-Kinkora as their representative. Over these next weeks, I look forward to speaking with and hearing from all residents in the District on what they want to see from their MLA, and how we can work together to improve the lives of everyone in our community.”
