By-Elections in Districts 9 and 15 - Call for Nominations

Two by-elections are on the horizon in Districts 9 (D9) and 15 (D15). While no official date has been announced, it is likely that both elections will be held simultaneously.

• The last possible date for the writ to drop for D9, following the resignation of Natalie Jameson, is August 11, 2025.

• For D15, following the resignation of Dennis King, the latest possible date is August 21, 2025. More information is available from Elections PEI.

Nominations Now Open

On March 9, the Provincial Council passed a motion to open nominations for D9 and D15 upon acceptance of the updated nomination application, which has now been approved.

A further motion passed on May 15, 2025, confirmed that nominations for both districts are officially open and will close on June 21, 2025.

Nominations Screening Committee

Along with the opening of nominations, the Provincial Council has approved the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the Nominations Screening Committee. This committee is responsible for receiving all applications, completing the necessary screening tasks, and forwarding their recommendations to the Provincial Council.
